Ride-share driver gives woman unwanted kiss at Stanford

A man who claimed to work for a ride-sharing company picked up a woman and kissed her without her consent at Stanford University over the weekend, the university's Department of Public Safety reported on Monday.

For research for a client, I went through the background check and registration process for both ride share companies, and investigated the practices required for taxi companies BY LAW.

Not even close. One is regulated, the other is the OK Corral; they use the database companies like Sterling for checks - they even outsource their background checks!

Also - google any combination of 'uber' and 'crime', for example.

I'm no fan of taxi's (they brought a lot of this upon themselves) but they have a lot of advantages in certain situations: disabilities, regulated requirements, availability and price control even in an emergency, and more.

re: lost item recovery, yes, you might recover, but I've had a situation where they claimed another customer must have grabbed the item.

Did the victim request a car from a rideshare company or did this one just come by and offer her a ride? Are the rideshare companies cooperating with the police? So many missing details make this article kind of pointless. I hope it gets updated to be more useful.
