More office space, whether it's in East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, or Menlo Park means exacerbating the existing jobs housing imbalance and traffic congestion. We can't build our way out of this mess.

We need need more jobs that can be filled by existing city residents, not jobs that bring outsiders into the city and displace or harm current residents.

East Palo Alto has a jobs/resident imbalance, with lots of residents and very few jobs. Great to see developers investing in EPA and bringing jobs to the community.

But if the EPA residents are not qualified for the job openings, then nothing will change...just more gridlock from outside the area itself.

There is SO much traffic in that area! This will only make things worse. 900 workers equals 900 cars. Unless they are all going to teleport into that building, traffic will be snarled!

I don't believe this project will bring more jobs to the residents of East Palo Alto, and it will just create more traffic and congestion on the roads. This sounds like an awful idea, where the ones that are trying to get this passed, are the ones that only see dollar signs, and not the consequences that it'll bring to this city and neighboring cities.

Yes. The office complex will obviously be housing professional businesses/services and unless the EPA residents are vocationally trained for certain specific vocational roles, the jobs will go elsewhere.
In other words...no significant difference or major economic changes in EPA.

Don't forget the other 700 jobs just over the freeway on University at the Sobrato site. No one from PA or MP will ever get over the bridge again.

Part of the problem is that many of those who are originally from EPA & who succeed in life/business rarely want to come back to EPA to help improve it.
Most of them move on & are glad to have left the place for good.

Yeah this is a terrible idea. Why not build it right over the 101 that might actually help traffic on unliversity lol

True. Successful East Palo Altans should takes strides to improve their community on their own by sticking around & making it a better place to live.

I'm all for this project! Since these buildings will be closer for traffic coming in over the Dumbarton Bridge, it will effectively lower the rate at which cars can cross over into Palo Alto. ;-)
(Better get that Dumbarton rail corridor restored ASAP.)
