Warned of potential looters, some Midpeninsula stores board windows to protect their property

Original post made on Jun 3, 2020

With the Midpeninsula already stirred up in recent days over the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, some local shops took precautions Tuesday as warnings spread of organized looting rings.

So, we entered a curfew state based on the potential of looting. So far this week, no looting...Are we just supposed to accept our city continually communicating to us that we should be in a state of fear? Who does that help?

It’s pretty damning on our city that during this time, we are boarding up and hiding in our homes, hiding from the cries of pain and hurt of our fellow man.

Protestors should focus on anti-racism, not BLM. BLM's primary mission is now defunding the police nationally. Law enforcement is already stretched thin and needs our support, the majority are heroes (like they were a few weeks ago during COVID). Web Link

Seriously trying to impinge upon BLM?

Wow. You must be great at parties. Everything's fine, nothing to see here.

Put yourself into the shoes of the other...what would you do if you learn of yet another senseless killing for which the authorities "white wash" the circumstances....one day you are driving along and then stopped by police. You want to ask what the problem is but the the officer will not give you a chance, shouts at you to get out of the car with hands up! Say this happens multiple times to you, to your friends, relatives and each time the authorities refuse to hear the truth. You go from being a law abiding young student to a convict. Once released, it is difficult to be employed. It is a downward spiral because you are not a white person, let alone with some wealth. Then you see the video....What would you do????

The PAPD is an institution with a long history of racism. They've everything from coerce confessions to running blacks out of town. They can't keep doing that unless people are irrationally afraid, so they're promoting fear. Write to city.council@cityofpaloalto.org and ask for an end to this pointless curfew.
