Santa Clara County votes to adopt new reforms for Sheriff's Office

The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to adopt a proposal requiring the Sheriff's Office to implement policy reforms and consider other recommendations in an effort to reduce police violence.

Santa Clara County has made a good start. In addition, we need accountability and transparency from our police departments. As long as police union contracts shield officers, we will have neither.

Intelligent people need to think independently and logically. Police is the main force to deal with violent crimes, and defunding police will make criminals happy while discouraging police officers. The majority of police officers are doing their jobs to protect the safety of the society. The community should not treat them badly because some officers did something wrong.
