Craving more outdoor dining, Palo Alto prepares to extend 'Summer Streets' to end of the year

Original post made on Aug 6, 2020

Buoyed by rave reviews of the city's new outdoor dining scene, Palo Alto leaders are considering keeping California and University avenues closed to traffic until the end of the year and adding a car-free zone on Ramona Street.

How arrogant for Nancy Coupel to complain that the Summer Streets program won't bring benefits to the Coupa Cafe locations she chooses to operate downtown when for years she's illegally refused to serve residents of the Ventura Neighborhood at her 3457 El Camino Real location, pretending that it's a "restaurant supply" store when in fact it's flouting zoning by serving as a wharehouse for the downtown cafes. If Nancy is truly looking for something beneficial, she would comply with the law and open the cafe in our neighborhood. The abandoned Innospring parking lot next door would serve nicely as an outdoor seating area, as would the alley in back, and you've got near-constant foot traffic there during these days of working at home with people trying to move around while on or between calls. We might be more of a mixed crowd here than downtown, but we don't bite!
