Since you brought this up a teacher in the SF school District wrote an opinion that was published by the SFC - "Students get a lesson in subtle white privilege". A teacher looking to explain the inauguration ceremony focuses on Bernie Sanders in an uncomplimentary way, and further about the white privilege he represents. This got a lot of responses today in the opinion section. And they generally did not agree with what was said.

The bigger topic is what is being taught in our schools? The inauguration is about the transfer of power that takes place with a President. We then get teachers that are venting their personal political positions - or is this the type of information that is being taught today in the schools? Not appreciated by the SF parents - no wonder the people are fleeing the city. Our student enrollment is also dropping.

The point of the school system is suppose to teach a proscribed set of facts. It suppose to equalize the playing field so all participants feel equal in the classroom. The teacher is counter to establishing an equal classroom where all students feel welcome and do not have to contend with political divisiveness that divides by elusive statements of categorization.
