Talks of football merger between SCVAL and PAL gaining momentum

The on-again, off-again talks to merge the two largely public high school athletic leagues on the Peninsula for football appear to be gaining traction.

ahhh.... got news for everyone, given the demographic trends in the CCS boundaries football is a dying sport in public schools. Any top football athletes will migrate to private schools for sure.

But this is an interesting idea to expand the number of schools eligible to play in top tier against each other as a last gasp to save football in the public school system.
If nothing else it makes the game safer as the best teams don't beat up on weaker teams 72-0.
