Why only 10 felonies for all those women and that amount of profiteering and money laundering? Doesn't Santa Clara care about crimes against women, esp. Asian women? Outrageous.

Only 10 felonies? I'm not a lawyer, but I've paid enough attention to the news to understand that overcharging a defendant won't lead to conviction.

10 felony counts = less than 10% of the 100+ alleged victims.

Since the PA Weekly account noted that this endeavor was part of a larger national operation, it is possible that the arrestee struck a plea deal...reduced charges in exchange for info leading to the arrest and conviction of the major players.

This illegal operation could be a lot larger than a floating brothel in Milpitas with large sums of money being exchanged and maybe even a few well-known local citizens or politicians uncovered as regular or former clients.

The Harvey Weinstein business model is not limited to New York and Hollywood.

100 is the allegation as some victims may opt not to come forward or have left the business for new lives if they were fortunate enough to escape this treachery. Ensuring one's personal privacy + a fear of embarrassing and humiliating publicized accounts is another consideration.

The male customers should also be tracked down and publically humiliated via the media as some are probably successful businessmen, pillers of the community and pseudo 'family value' types.

Hypocrites always need to be exposed for who they really are.

The IRS will probably get involved as well. Tax evasion is a serious crime and the Internal Revenue Service always wants its share of any unreported income.

Add money laundering + vice = game over for these two entrepreneurs & any others involved.
