Forgive me, since football is the greatest team sport, and we failed in that regard last night, but the Vikings Varsity team has a very unique athlete, of ordinary size, named Brody Simison, #20, who made about 75% of all the team's best plays on both sides of the ball (e.g., two INT's, one TD catch, one recovered fumble, multiple tackles, and the best special teams plays). He's like our own Rickey Henderson or Bo Jackson--he could genuinely play any position on the field like a star. Palo Alto residents, you need to come out and see him play his senior year. He represents excellent human persistence during the damn COVID.

Good to see community sports back in the limelight.

In some red regions, high school football and basketball are the only games in town.

Palo Alto is far removed from that mindset but those who wish to participate and/or watch should not be curtailed by the coronavirus providing EVERYONE is vaccinated.

Face masks should remain optional.
