Criminals continue to love Palo Alto as an easy target, crime is rising and increasingly brazen, and quality of life continues to deteriorate.

Does anyone care?
How do we compel our public officials to be less permissive, laissez faire and indifferent to the obvious problems?

It seems like the burglar (s) knew just which window to enter, and where to find the safe. Since they didn't disturb any of the other rooms, they either ran out of time or just knew instinctively that they wouldn't find anything valuable in any other room. Hm. Colombo would figure this one out in less than 39 minutes.
