West Nile virus detected in some areas of Palo Alto and Stanford

Santa Clara County Vector Control District will spray parts of Palo Alto and Stanford with mosquito treatment to suppress West Nile virus activity after some mosquitoes tested positive.

Thank you Sue Dremann for this thorough and critical piece. The county needs to notify the public well in ADVANCE when pesticides are to be sprayed in our neighborhoods and at Stanford.

So, why didn’t the County let us know about this? I have a koi pond and have scrambled to get help to protect my fish. Thanks, Sue for this informative article.

Thank you for this information, but the headline would be much more helpful if read, Mosquito Spray Alert for parts of Palo Alto.

The Santa Clara County Vector Control website indicates that the material that will be used is MERS 3.0, not MERS 2.0. Several websites indicate that MERS 3.0 contains NO petroleum distillates.
