Of course, none of this would be necessary if democrats had the courage to close the border and support a safe and sane immigration policy. Instead, we'll wring our hands, decry the devil drug, and spend billions on "education" and new social programs. Hmmm, haven't we seen this movie before?

All fentanyl addicts should carry or have immediate access to Naloxone which is now an over the counter drug.
Perhaps it should be distributed openly and freely to those who are drug addicts regardless of age.

Don’t do illegal drugs.
Do prosecute drug dealers.
I’m truly sorry for anyone who’s lost a loved one to illegal drugs, of course.

After the fact options of potential rescue everywhere via Narcan - at taxpayer expense - should not be the priority. This is what our half-hearted state politicians do prioritize.
Some first responders recount they rescue drug overdosing persons - the same individuals! - multiple times a day up in San Francisco. Someone might need those first responders for other emergencies like heart attacks.
I get that drugs are a “scourge,” but California appears soft on illegal drugs.

"I think everyone should have a box or two of Narcan in their car and their purse because you never know where you'll be in the community where it may save a life,"
Our lives should not be centered around people doing drugs. If they chose to do drugs, we should not be obligated to facilitate them. I don't want to feel guilty if I see someone OD'ing in the street but I happen not be carrying narcan.
What kind of message do we want to send to our kids? Go ahead and be brave because we've got you covered?

This is like saying everyone should carry around a first-aid kit on their person in the event of an accident.
All street drugs carry the risk of contamination or adulteration. Substance abusers need to be vigilant and take responsibility for their actions.
It is not the responsibility of regular citizens to protect street addicts. If anything, maybe the parents of troubled teens suspected of using fentanyl should stock-up on Narcan.

Palo Alto old-timers will remember those little red fire alarm boxes that used to be mounted on telephone poles throughout the city.
Perhaps something similar could be applied with Narcan stored in outdoor emergency boxes.

That's a good idea. Would accessing Narcon through one of these public dispenseries also trigger an alarm to alert paramedics?
