Palo Alto looks to extend 'safe parking' on Geng Road

Nearly three years after opening a public parking lot on Geng Road to unhoused individuals, Palo Alto is preparing to extend its partnership with Santa Clara County to keep the city’s largest "safe parking" program near the Baylands.

Can establishment of the "safe parking" location be recognized as part of the Palo Alto solution to recent state-mandated residential housing requirements?

@Duveneck, excellent question. Of course the DODOs (Developer Owned Developer Operated) politicians and lobbyists will object because that wouldn't help their developer backers who want Market Rate housing for well-paid techies employed by their backers rather than to house those most in need.

It would be good to know (a) how many of the 12 spaces are typically filled and (b) if not all 12, why not, given the number of RVs parked on roads in Palo Alto?
