Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors looks to pitch in another $10M for all-inclusive playgrounds

Looking to replicate the success of the past, Santa Clara County’s Board of Supervisors is considering setting aside $10 million to help local jurisdictions build more all-inclusive playgrounds.

Personally, I think we should have playgrounds designed for different age groups. I think it is very wrong to see toddlers and 10 year olds playing in the same space. In elementary schools, kindergartners have their own playgrounds because it is thought that they should be protected from stronger, older kids playing in the same space.

It would be much better to have areas in all playgrounds which are designed for under 3s, and other areas which are designed for over 8s, as well as an area for those inbetween. On the few occasions I have seen the Magic Bridge near Mitchell Park library, it has been overcrowded with too many kids and looks dangerous to me. What would happen if a 10 year old ran past a toddler and sent them flying?
