California faces big challenges to implement new math guidelines

After a contentious road to approve a new set of statewide guidelines on teaching students math, California officials must still figure out how to support school districts with implementation.

Or they could just use Singapore Math, which is cheap and effective.

Expensive and ineffective is so much better: More fine tuning, more consultants, more private vendors, more trainings, more administrative oversight, more administrators, more lawsuits when things don't go as advertised, and more tutoring business for those who don't catch on to the new teaching methods.

One hopes all of this effort shows positive results for students because lots of folks (students and teachers excluded) will be getting fat during this prolonged roll out.

For better or worse, public education is a cash cow that serves not just students, but all of those feeding off the cow.

Read a book called "Weapons of Mass Instruction" and you'll see what I mean.
