Two Peninsula refilleries look to make shopping more sustainable

Byrd's Filling Station in San Mateo and Right On! Refillery in Los Altos stock everything from bar shampoo to boba straws in an effort to reduce reliance on single-use plastic.

I've been to Byrd's multiple times. I keep supporting them in the hope that their success would enable them to open a second location closer to Menlo Park, possibly in Belle Haven in the Facebook Village.

My awareness of the realities of recycling has grown over the years and I would love it if our local recycling provider, Recology, would refine its collection process in a way that reflects those realities.

We have been "sold a bill of goods" by the petroleum industry (shocking, I know!) and need to be better about disposing single-use plastics. They are everywhere.
