University Ave Cal Train Station

Original post made by Cal Train Commuter, Downtown North, on Jun 2, 2006

The renovation of the bus stop area was completed a while ago, and it looks great - but frankly, as a daily Cal Train commuter, I am disappointed to see nothing was done or appears to be in the works, for the train station area (including the underground access tunnels. These tunnels are dirty; the paint is peeling off the walls and often smells of urine. Plus: I've almost gotten ran-over by speeding byciclists in those tunnels - please slow down!
I am not a Palo Alto resident, but I work here, and shop here often. Palo Alto and Stanford are known as upper class areas in this Bay Area of ours, but you wouldn't know it by the look of these tunnels or the train station. The "office building" has been shut down for more than a year, and in winter it took 5 phone calls to Cal Train to get them to turn on lights at the station. Who would be responsible for these issues?

Dear Commuter, I completely agree with your observations. Lighting and regular clean up of these public areas needs to improve. I would suggest writing a note to the Palo Alto City Council. You can go the following link to provide an entry similar to the one the posted here: Web Link
